Devanshee Shukla
PhD Candidate in Strategy, INSEAD
Welcome!
I'm Devanshee, a PhD candidate in Strategy at INSEAD. I am on the 2026-2027 academic job market.
My research lies at the intersection of strategic human capital and emerging markets. In my dissertation, I study how firms in emerging economies create and manage their talent pipelines and human capital. To explore these questions, I leverage field experimentsand large proprietary datasets, collaborating closely with public firms and large non-governmental organizations. My work has received the Best PhD Paper Award by the SMS Strategic Human Capital Group and the Singapore Rising Scholars Award.
In my Job Market Paper, I run a randomized field experiment to study how firms build talent pipelines in nascent sectors by overcoming frictions in information availability and information credibility. In India's rapidly scaling solar manufacturing sector, I find that credible recruitment substantially expands the talent pipeline and changes its composition by drawing in more marginalized candidates without any detectable decline in applicant quality.
Before my PhD, I completed a Masters in Public Policy at National University of Singapore and an M.Tech in Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
